Course Program

In this discipline, several aspects related to host-pathogen interactions will be covered, with a focus on biochemical and physiological ones. Pre-infection events that are crucial for infection will be addressed; the pathogenicity and aggressiveness mechanisms of the pathogen and the host defense mechanisms. Biochemical and physiological changes will be discussed in detail during the time course of compatible and incompatible interactions and the micro and macroscopic results of these in host tissues. Symbionts or pathogens: who and what defines? The phenomenon of resistance induction. How to design an experiment to analyze the physiology of parasitism, which controls and which tools are used.
